Houston, TX is seriously having the worst fall weather. It is hot, muggy and not fall like at all! That brings me to this Bordeaux tank from Francesca’s. Bordeaux is a must have color for fall and the upcoming holidays. This tank leaves you just having to throw on some added sparkle and not be drenched in sweat while trying to look all the fall feels. A faux leather moto jacket is an essential piece from now until end of March. Should it get a little chilly you can put this piece over your shoulder and be good to go! But as you see, this morning was nothing of that sort… HUMID and 90 degrees!  My hair is giving me the cold shoulder with its anti-curl, frizzy mood.

I am having the special pleasure of hosting an event at Francesca’s, THIS EVENING. It will be my first blogger hosted event and let’s just say my anxiety has peaked! I will have a full blog post on all the festivities in the coming weeks. But also, you scroll through my SnapChat [gracefulsass] for the fun as it is happening. If you’re in Houston, you will not want to miss this Girls Night Out!

Houston has the best blogger babes around! I say this because we are all community over competition in our attitudes, and genuinely want to help one another. I was so blessed to have a chance to sit down with the sensational Dede from Dress Up Buttercup this week. She who had some of the best advice to give me! Let’s just say that things around Gracefully Sassy are going to get busier every week!

Thirsty Thursday in full swing! Okay, I lied but maybe after 5pm 😉
Have you seen the trend of fall florals floating around?! I am in heaven with this trending favorite. This makes transitioning pieces to work in multiple season so easy. To be honest, this is an older dress I have had from Esther Boutique, but with this year loving on all fall florals I am grabbing my moto jacket and hitting the town in this number. Don’t cry my love, Esther has amazing midi dresses available that will make your heart swoon! Even fall florals with bell sleeves (hint hint on upcoming blog post)

This week has already been filled fun evening events. From The Mostess Holiday box launch event, to my husband and I’s Houston wedding venue inviting us to their FIRST evening open house. Kyle and I are truly honored to have our photos shared with all the guest invited and reliving our special day at the place we became one! Christine Wright is sharing her gogegous shots of us saying “I Do”. Be sure to follow along on SnapChat (gracefullsass) for the fun!

Also, it is Halloween weekend and my gorgeous besties with our husbands in toe will be hitting up some amazing get-togethers held by local Houston creatives. You will not want to miss what I am sure will have plenty laughable moments and more fall floral inspiration!

Dreaming in Gingham

I ordered this dress from SheIn a few months back. This was my very first purchase from this site, and nervous as I was I went for it. I felt it was a total steal at LESS THAN $15, and it can be worn for many seasons! Oh and shortly after I tried my dress on I was already back on SheIn’s website making my second order. When you find a fantastic new store you have to shop more of it right?! Well that is what I do anyways… Also sure that is why my husband is always yelling “You have more than enough clothes, get off the computer!”.
Gingham in my opinion can do no wrong, much like this dress. For cooler temperatures a light duster coat or great fall boots are just the ticket! Two very hot trends that are staying well through fall 1. Off the Shoulder and 2. Gingham. I will update my Instagram (@gracefullysassy) and SnapChat (gracefulsass) as I find great buys on these two trends so stay tuned loves!

I attended The Cultivate Project’s photo shoot just a week ago and its dreaming whimsical theme was perfect to show off this off the shoulder number. The two lovely ladies who make up this team are Houston Photographer Stacey Anderson Photography and fellow Houstonian [former Canadian] Christine Wright Photography. They coordinated everything from décor by East Lake Events to a braid bar with two fabulous hair stylists Bri Davila and Crystal Aviles. I truly enjoyed shooting with these ladies! I also had the opportunity to meet and mingle with other gorgeous Houston bloggers. Be sure to check out The Cultivate Project’s Instagram as they’re debuting all the ladies who attended. They beauties don’t disappoint and you will want to follow all their wonderful content!!

Happy FriYay Eve, grab your gingham and enjoy!

New Blogger: 4 Tips to Keeping Life Level

WHOOOOAA! Yep, I am battling a sinus infection while working hard at my full time job to then rush over to my blog photoshoot (second shoot this week!) at the end of the work day and hoping I still have energy to give my husband my full attention when I get home. Did I even get the gym, shower, and dinner in there? I promise I am not whining! I adore being a wife to my husband and that is first and foremost my highest role, but I also enjoy my job and love my title as a new Blogger. I have wanted to start my blog for quite some time now. I have finally taken the plunge and truly enjoy putting it ALL out there for ya’ll! Feel free to let me know if I am a little too blunt, but again I can’t promise that I will change.
I am still learning how to juggle it all. I can’t even say I was doing the best job at juggling home, work, family, and events, on a good day before I began blogging. Now add that in and my planner is overflowing. My husband and friends frequently say “Here she goes pulling out the planner. What is she planning now?!”. The past few months has taught me a lot on how to balance LIFE. I still have room for improvement in some areas, but hey I am moving on up in a positive direction! One day during the lunch hour I grabbed my co-worker (who also is a photographer on the side) and we headed out to shoot what is now this post. These are my helpful new blogger tips I have learned the hard way. But please, please, please if you have any advice on how to juggle this thing we call life in the blogging world I am all ears!

To the New Blogger – PRIORITIZE:
I didn’t realize how many blog events, shoots I was attending in a week. This wasn’t until my husband was expressing his sadness with me being gone so frequently! #wifefail  The balance I have found is one blog event/shoot during the work week. This allows me to balance my full time job, hit the gym with my husband, take care of dinner and general house duties without being dog tired.
TIME FOR YOURSELF:
Nonstop rushing can leave me not even enjoying a pedicure because it becomes something I just must have done for photos. There are mornings where I don’t get up extra early with Kyle. I can rest until he leaves for work, then wake up and have my coffee/news time in a peaceful way. This is roughly a 10-minute shenanigan, but it is oh so necessary when I have been catering to everything but my own body. The rest of the morning seems so much more peaceful. “Pray and Slay” is my moto and I am able to make this happen on days I take time for myself!
FAMILY:
It may seem like a taxing day when you have a list of to-do’s and one is stopping by the in-law’s house to say HI! Luckily, I have been blessed with incredible in-laws that I love spending time with. The thing I don’t love, is how I am constantly on my phone in the middle of chatting and playing cards with them. Between answering emails and tending to social media I barely look up to acknowledge my family. I am so, so grateful to have my followers who genuinely care about my posts! This is something I thank God for. I want to be sure to chat everyone back or say “Girl, own it you’re awesome!”. In the same, family is near and dear to my heart. They do NOT deserve to take a back seat. In the balancing act, I have adjusted things. Making memories with our loved ones is everlasting and something we all must move higher up on to-do list!
TAKE OFF YOUR PLANNER HAT:
My name should have been Sarah“Planner” Henson. Everything in my world has a time, place, and full details (well I like to think it does lol).  This drives my husband absolutely insane! He is care free and light hearted. Accctually, this is as huge blessing for me. Kyle comes through with the You Need To Be Care Free Honey at the perfect moment. RARELY do I have a totally free Saturday that isn’t filled with events whether it be blog related or personal. When I do, I give it all to Kyle! I let him choose everything without warning even if it is lounge day on the couch with Netflix. Not only does this make him happy, but it gives me a chance to laugh until I cry with truly enjoying my best friend. Hand down best advice I have EVER been given… “Never stop dating your spouse!”

Okay, I fully apologize for the long post, but this is something that has been on my heart to share. Now it is out there and my anxiety is lightened! Thank you very much for letting me vent, just please whatever you do don’t think I am not wonderfully thankful for each and everyone one who reads my blog! I am just trying to learn how to keep life level.

FALL…. Only a day away

Yes, many northerners wouldn’t believe that with fall only being A DAY AWAY how badly I was sweating shooting this look! Here in the south finding great fall pieces that are still fitting for our not so fall weather can be a little tough, but this almost t-shirt style dress is perfection for just that. Francescas is nailing all the great fall styles filled with booties, gold, and olive. ALSO if you’re in need of game day attire that is ever so perfect, look no further than Frans. They will set you up to be a fashion stunner and not a game day bummer!

I am loving all the fall loose fitting dresses with booties that give me all the fall feels. Tid bit of I’m sure sad news to read… I am not the #basic pumpkin spice girl. I have never cared for the taste of anything pumpkin since I was young. BUT, where I can relate on the festive Starbucks favorites is the Caramel Apple Spice! No one pegs an apple cider like this delicious number. That is when I know the seasons for all things wonderful are upon us.

So when tomorrow comes grab your plaid blanket scarf, loose fitting fall dress, with bold booties, and head out to your local Starbucks for some seasonal sensation.
TREAT YOURSELF!
